Caesar

Caesar

I take my seat at the President’s table
The silence is thick and heavy
The room is sterile
With blank walls and dim lighting;
It is clear you are under ground,
Our country has been having problems lately
Minority groups seem to be stirring trouble as usual

The President is more anxious than normal
And his temperament is on edge,
I ask him, “President, how shall we begin our search?”
“Look for any eccentricities
We are always to be weary of the artists,
But they are not our greatest danger
Keep your eyes on the bookish types
Search library records, particularly those of colleges and universities
Any person who’d rather spend evenings with books
Rather than people is suspect,
Books lead to questions
And questions lead to rebellion;
Watch too for lovers
Those who’d die for each other over country
Their whispers speak of loyalty beyond the flag
This is unacceptable
It goes against our entire educational system.”
I nodded with absolute agreement,
“Yes, President we have and will continue
To flesh these traitors out,
There treason and sedition will not be fulfilled,
Yes, President and these are being prosecuted”

A younger member at the table spoke up
He has a square jaw, and is known for malice,
“We’ve only found mild rebelling in these,
There seems to be a deeper danger
One brewing subtly underneath these groups”
The President angrily mumbled,
“Yes, our intelligence agencies have been working overtime on this
Some call them ‘The Way’
They follow the teachings of the Jewish Rabbi, Jesus;
They are fundamentally against us
These previous groups, with proper education, are of little harm
This group however, has an utterly different view from us,
Worst of all is their evil Scriptures
These of course are illegal
And they may be arrested for obtaining them
However, this group seems to be transformed by these texts,
The writings control their entire outlook on all subjects”,
With a sigh he adds,
“Our spies have found some communities in the country side
This is far outside the regulated zone,
And here our entire culture seems foreign to them,
They are insufferable and unyielding
Their teachings are passé, uncivilized non-sense,
Objective truth, a sovereign God, a man that is God…absurd!
Strictly poison to our way of life
They must be smoked out, captured and crushed;
By this time next year
I want them annihilated from our country
They are a parasite and thorn that must be erased
They shall have no help and no hope but in their God!”
