The Oddity of Me

I must confess, I let few see
The odd complexity that is me;

I’m a Democrat that hates abortion,
And a Republican that hates extortion;
I’m a city-slicker from the rural mid-west,
And a country hick that wears a Ralph Lauren vest;
I’m a Protestant that crosses his chest,
And a Baptist that doesn’t always know best;

Yes, I have a hard time relating to others,
And I have not found many loyal brothers;

I’m a liberal, who believes in a bride and groom,
And a conservative who dismisses the impending doom;
I look like a golfing country club brat,
And in reality I’m a bomkin of an aristocrat;
I’m at home watching a little kid come up to bat,
And I’m at home studying the root of a word in Lat.;

So, hopefully now you can see
That there is a little bit more to me.
