Dreams of St. Andrews
Bag pipes bring up the sun
As soft gray clouds roll onto shore,
Sweaters, ties, and long skirts walk to class;
Lunch and tea with future scholars
Discussing Augustine and Aquinas,
And jokes of a Scottish uprising;
Afternoon futbol match
With rumors of a William Wales visit,
And casual talk of the EU;
Dinner in the dining hall
With past royalty and leaders overlooking all,
The unique, subtle roar of the tall room;
The Sun goes down reflecting medieval ruins
As smoke rises from the chimneys,
And the air is cool and clean.
