A Longing Man

A Longing Man

Wretched man that I am
All night I toss and turn with desire
The harder I fight, the higher the intensity;
I hope for escape and fulfillment someday,
Lord forgive me for substituting
For trading a second for a lifetime;
Give me patience and strength
Help me wait on your timing
My desire is from you
My I not twist it in a hurry,
Hold back your chastisement
I know your ways
I love them for themselves
And for my health,
Make your home in my soul
Cut a path for this next moment
Keep me in your tower and fortress
Give me freedom and passion in their time
And douse this fire within for now,
For spring is but around the corner
Keep me warn my Lord until then;
Warm with the heat only you provide
A presence in the details of life
A joy for beyond
Smack me into place my Lord
I am but a man
Let me be your man.
