Lights are dimmed down
Chitter, chatter is the conversation
Music fades from the living room
The clings of dishes and glasses create their own beat,
Talk of war, talk of peace
Everybody happy for a cease,
Whispers and kisses in an ear
Jokes made about our vegetarian friends,
Disputes raged about abortion and climate change,
And I just want to say
I love you all here today,
Let us eat and be merry,
But more than that let us
Edify, build up and encourage,
Thank you my friends for being here today
I wish more moments were spent together.
