True Freedom

True Freedom

We’ll never find our souls looking there
We know the higher way,
And only we are in the way;
Step aside, self destroying ego
Our flesh, our phantom
The enemy within us
Fighting our paths from eternity,
Let go, you obsessive perfectionist
You anxious control freak
Give way to the rushing flood
Banked in line, cutting the forest,
The tree is not to tempt
To give boundaries, infinite dependence;
What good is a river not banked?
What good is math without proper symbols?
What is a society without law?
Can a lover be uncommitted and still be a lover?
See the need for dependence,
Dependence is the way to freedom
Freedom is not autonomy
A lover is most free tightly grasped in thy love’s arms,
Independence, self–sufficiency… lies,
Does not history spill forth this lesson?
Is not the story of Babel divine?
So I say let go
And cling to the only independent
The transcendent Godhead,
This is the only way
All else leads to destruction.
