Truth

Truth

I’m just rolling round and round
Looking for an answer to the equation,
Some say, well no one has ever known
And you can’t really know anything at all,
Thank you, you skeptic
Speaking of sand castles yet living in stone,
Some say, that is for you to figure out
Only you know what it means for you,
Thank you, you definition-less dictionary
Rejecting all that is objective or exclusive,
Some say, the establishment gave you that question
Think for yourself and question authority,
Thank you, you paranoid Marxist
Chaos won’t answer or solve the equation,
Some say, you must dissect the question
Probe the infinite material in the question,
Thank you, you observant scientist
Answering the obvious but never asking more,
Some say, that is a good question
I have often wondered it myself,
To these I say I’m sorry you’re institutionalized,
And no one listens to your wisdom;
And what is my overwhelming question
What haunts the postmodern man?
What, you ask, what is it?
Does 2+2=4, or do I look else where?
Does truth exist, or has it disappeared?
Does absolute truth exist?
If Jesus said he is the truth
What does that mean?
Is truth dependant upon you?
Or are you dependant upon the truth?
Can you influence or change the truth?
If you reject that 2+2=4 does that mean 2+2 is not 4?
Or is there a truth beyond you?
And if truth spoke to man
Shouldn’t we heed the very letter?
But oh how the world hates the truth
Oh how the world hates the truth.
