The Mountains
It can take the toughest of times
To let us know who we are,
Not the meadows and the plains
But the mountains of life;
What credit or award is in scaling the easier road?
The test resides in the highlands
In the crisp trying air;
We should not avoid the rugged terrain
The dangers of the slopes and cliffs,
It is there we meet ourselves
And it is there that all becomes clear.
