Future Christian Author
Christian, only write what is good to yourself,
That is how the Greats got on your shelf.
Don’t write “Christian" literature,
Eloquently present reality;
Don’t write “Christian” novels,
Tell fascinating, captivating tales;
Don’t write “Christian” poetry,
Open windows with words;
Don’t let them cram you into a commercial package,
Don’t let them tell you your language offends the readers;
You tell them that Christ came to save the savage,
You tell them that they are Pharisaic cheerleaders,
That you have a story to tell,
And that their legalism can go to hell,
Because the Lord is lord of all you see,
And that includes the birds and bees,
Everything from war to tea;
So, when you write
Write what you see;
Don’t compromise for the new Pharisee,
Because the Lord is lord of all you see,
And he has called you
To be a writer accordingly.
