Romans 13

Romans 13

I curse you and I love you Romans 13,
I curse you for your pacifism and seeming contradictions
Weak and feeble you face oppression and tyranny
How can the Israelites overthrow and commit genocide? yet I submit;
How does 1 Samuel 15 correlate with you?
The old problem of the old and the new.

I love you for your strength and focused truth
You show the activists the error of Babel
You put the clay calmly in its non-sovereign place
You indirectly point towards the second coming,
And press man to pray for your hand and will.

Oh sweet divine carpenter I am but a chair
I can by no reason raise my voice or petition- I am a chair!
Help me decipher Your word
Forgive me of my irreverence,
I could laugh- a chair petitioning the carpenter!

Help me Lord, did Bonhoeffer sin?
Where does our responsibility end?
I take it not in my hands, but place it in yours my Lord
You reign over chairs and grasshoppers
You shape Your vessels as you please
And the nations are but a drop in the bucket to You,
All the glory is Yours.
